SELLING
YOUR HOME
|
|
|
| First impressions count when home selling. Try to understand
that you become so used to your own home it may be difficult
to see it as a potential buyer would see it. Try to look with
fresh eyes. |
| Remember most people make up their minds very quickly. Make
sure the outside of your property is clean and tidy. Cut the
grass and tidy the garden if there is one out front. Finish
off any half finished DIY projects. |
| Declutter your home when selling it. Nothing puts off buyers
so much as cramped rooms. Throw away or give to charity shops
items you no longer want. If you are prone to clutter and don't
want to get rid of it pack it away, put it in cupboards but
don't have it on show. A lick of paint won't go amiss - but
make sure you use neutral colours. |

|
The following points will also help:-
|
- Don't have it too hot or too cold.
- Tidy away very personal possessions. Space is a key
issue so hang up your clothes and make sure your shoes
are stored neatly away.
- Make sure the beds are made with fresh-looking bed-linens.
- Give the bathroom a thorough clean. Replace any worn
or discoloured items such as shower curtain, toilet seat
and bathmats.
- Put out fresh new soap to give it that 'hotel' look.
- Make sure the lighting is flattering to your home for
the time of day. If necessary buy one or two low lighting
lamps to create the right atmosphere.
- Don't forget to put out some fresh flowers, turn on
any lamps and scatter some interiors magazines around
on the coffee table.
- There are also some tricks like having fresh coffee
brewing or bread baking or a vanilla pod in the oven to
make your home smell nice. |
